A reunion of the Coffs Harbour Diggers Rugby League side that played the southern zone grand final against Bellingen at Urunga on September 14, 1958 is being held at the Coffs Harbour Leagues Club on Saturday, August 9.

The following day a ‘brunch’ will be held at the Coffs Harbour Leagues Club from 11am, prior to the match between the Coffs Comets and the Bellingen Magpies on Sunday, August 10.

One of the organisers of the Diggers reunion is well known Urunga resident, Rex Sare who would like to see as many of the former Bellingen players as possible in attendance.

The Bellingen side was captain-coached by Jack Perrin and included some well known Bellingen identities such as Ron Braithwaite, John Brownlee, Brian Vidler, John Balcomb and Chassa Taylor.
