Joanna Lockwood and Paul Mason star in Love Letters.

A local in Bellingen these days, Joanna Walker is the daughter of a concert pianist mother and actor father, Johnny Lockwood. Joanna’s career in entertainment seemed pre-ordained. Early success as a singer was followed by a change to acting. Regular appearances on all the mainstream television series – like Bellamy, Homicide, Matlock – formed a great apprenticeship and led to a four-year starring role as Valerie in Cop Shop which, along with Joanna, charmed its way into most Australian homes In a recent interview with Annie Arnold, Joanna answered some questions that locals have been asking about the play: When was your last Play/performance? I think about 11 or 12 years ago, but it has all come back and is so enjoyable to flex those old muscles again, to work for a laugh that you think might be there and to get it is a wonderful feeling. There are a couple of times during this piece when some of the audience have gasped audibly, that is music to my ears. What have you and Paul Mason worked on together before? Nothing, we were little more than acquaintances with a close mutual friend before he got in touch with me and suggested it. He has a drama school in Port Macquarie and saw my TV commercials and set out to find me, I'm ever so glad he did. Is this the beginning of more performances? If not, it's not for lack of loving what we're doing. But it isn't easy or inexpensive to produce a production and there is a woeful lack of venues which people are used to attending. We are blessed here in Bellingen with the Memorial Hall, it's perfect. I would love to do more, time will tell. One night only at Bellingens own Memorial Hall. Friday, November 21 at 8pm . Coffee and Cakes available Tickets at Gelato Bar Hyde St. Bellingen $25 early bird, $22 concession, $27 on the night at the Hall For more information- coolmusic@westnet.com.au

16/12/2008 | So we now have desperate parents attempting to bribe teachers to get their children into a selective high school. What a sad indictment of our education policies, the holy grail of which is parental choice.
