Want to know more about climate change and its implications for Australia? Come along to the climate change forum at the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre at 5:30pm on Friday, August 1.

The forum will present three local speakers to introduce and explore the science of climate change, its likely impacts on local environments and the role of native forests in a new carbon emission trading scheme.

Last September, Ian Judd Head, Teacher of Science at Dorrigo High School, travelled to Melbourne to be trained by Al Gore about climate change. At the Dorrigo forum, Ian will present the slide show ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, that shows the facts on climate change and strategies for reducing global emissions and our own carbon footprints.

Andrew Turbill, Discovery Coordinator for NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), will provide a regional outline of likely impacts of climate change on our local environments and explore the potential implications for local communities.

NPWS Discovery Ranger Tim Cadman will look at the proposed carbon emission trading scheme and what role native forest might play in carbon trading.

The new-look Canopy Café is offering a special pre-forum dinner of king prawns in spicy tomato sauce on fettuccine for $12 between 4:40pm and 5:20pm.
