18/11/2008 9:17:00 AM
The horses are back at Dorrigo Show. Last year’s event was reduced to one day due to the Equine Influenza quarantine restrictions.

But good winter and spring rains mean the Showground is at its best and will be a welcome sight for the horses from the tablelands and coast.

A full 2- day horse program includes dressage, showjumping and all the general horse events.

A special exhibition of red poll cattle by the Qld Red Poll Society will also be featured at the show with entrants travelling from Casino, Inverell and Glen Innes to attend.

Other animals on exhibition include dairy cattle, goats, poultry plus the farmyard nursery and pet show competition.

Woodchop: Nine events will be contested from approx 10am with heats and finals cut throughout the day.

A full variety of events include standing block and underhand events, hard hitting championship, boys, veterans and the ever popular tree felling. Local axeman will compete with axeman travelling from QLD and around NSW.

Bush dog trials: Back by popular demand are the bush dog trials – local dogs, local handlers will be a hit again this year.

Aarvbee Demolition Derby: The Aarvbee Demolition derby will again feature on Sunday afternoon. Aarvbee has generously donated $1500 in prize money with a whopping $1000 being awarded to the winner. Already entrants are coming from as far afield as Armidale and Coramba so if you love watching car crashes then this is the event for you.
